About Parrot Mountain and Gardens
Parrot Mountain and Gardens is a bird park set in four acres of landscaped gardens at 1471 McCarter Hollow Road in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The attraction's website says it opened for its 2026 season on Saturday, February 28. It is not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
According to the website, the grounds include a secret garden where birds fly freely, a bird garden where visitors can hand-feed birds, a lory aviary where visitors feed nectar from a cup, a waterfall, specialty benches, a baby bird nursery, a gift shop and a dining deck overlooking the gardens. The site also lists a 200-foot dry stacked stone fence and a replica of a Thomas Kinkade stairway.
Exhibits and habitats
The home page names macaws, toucans, silvery-cheek hornbills, magpies and multicolored lories among the birds, and says about 70 birds sit on open perches in the bird garden. The education page adds cockatoos, African greys, lorikeets and conures. In the baby bird nursery, the home page says, visitors can pet the babies and see them being hand-fed.
The park is planted with what its education page calls thousands of flowers, shrubs, plants and trees, forming what it calls a four-acre rainforest environment, with planted and natural vegetation labeled for students. Covered areas are available, and the park operates in rain.
Conservation and programs
The education page states that the park's aim is to help protect and preserve exotic parrots and softbill species through a captive breeding program, and to provide a home for abused and unwanted birds. School field trips can include a meet and greet with staff, an educational tour of the birds and gardens, hands-on bird handling and training demonstrations, an introduction to the captive breeding program with a hand-feeding demonstration, a lunch break with a parrot finder scavenger hunt, and a live educational bird show of about 30 to 45 minutes. The website also lists church group visits, birthday parties, reunions and corporate events, a sponsor-a-bird option, and the sale of birds, with staff instruction on feeding and care, optional shipping and bird care supplies.
Planning your visit
As listed on the park's website, it is open March through October from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and November and December from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In December, operation depends on the weather and the site asks visitors to call first when it is very cold or snowing. The park is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. Group rates apply for parties of 35 or more with a reservation, and tickets can be bought online. Ticket prices are on the park's website. The phone number listed is 865-774-1749.

Distances are straight-line. A dash means we haven't confirmed that detail yet, not that the zoo lacks it.
AZAThe Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Accredited members have passed an independent inspection of animal care and welfare, safety, conservation and education, repeated every five years. Many smaller facilities never apply, so “not accredited” isn't a verdict on its own. What accreditation means · How we check this
