About the blue-fronted amazon

The blue-fronted amazon is a South American parrot that is one of the most common amazon parrots kept as a pet. About 38 cm (15 in) long and mainly green, it has a blue or turquoise patch on the forehead above a mostly black beak, with yellow on the face and crown. Its range covers eastern and northern Bolivia, eastern Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina, in forests, woodland, savanna and palm groves. It nests in tree cavities, laying usually three to five white eggs, which the female incubates for about 27 days. Chicks leave the nest about 60 days after hatching. Pet birds vary widely in talking ability, and many enjoy singing.
