About the standing's day gecko
Standing's day gecko is one of the largest day geckos, reaching a total length of about 20 to 25 cm. It is active by day and lives in trees in the arid south-west of Madagascar, in thorn forest around Sakaraha and Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park. Its colour varies with light intensity, from brownish grey to bright green or turquoise with blue-grey markings. Pairs bask on the highest, most exposed branches. It eats insects, invertebrates and smaller lizards, and also soft fruit, pollen and nectar. Both sexes are territorial, which is rare among geckos: males fight males and females fight females.
