About the goeldi's monkey

Goeldi's monkey, or Goeldi's marmoset, is a small New World monkey found mainly in the upper Amazon basin of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Peru. It has dark blackish-grey or brown fur and weighs about 500 g, with a body 200 to 230 mm long and a tail of 250 to 300 mm. Groups have been recorded at three to twelve individuals, and its distribution is patchy. Fungus is an important food, along with fruit, honey and seed pods. Unlike most relatives, a mother bears a single baby, and fathers and siblings help carry and feed it.
