About the honduran milk snake

The Honduran milk snake is a large, egg-laying subspecies of milk snake with a red body ringed in black and yellow. It lives at low to medium elevations in the tropics of Honduras, Nicaragua and northeastern Costa Rica. It kills by constriction and takes a wide range of prey, including lizards, rodents, birds, eggs and other snakes, even venomous ones. Its banded colours resemble those of a coral snake, a form of Batesian mimicry that helps deter predators. Wild adults reach about 48 inches long, and the species is one of the more commonly bred milk snakes in captivity.
