About the francois' langur

François' langur is an Old World monkey with silky black fur and striking white sideburns running from the ears to the corners of the cheeks. It lives in the limestone cliffs and caves of tropical and subtropical southwestern China and northeastern Vietnam, sleeping on ledges or in caves. Groups of 4 to 27, usually around 12, are led by females, who share parenting duties. Over half its diet is leaves, supplemented by fruit, seeds, flowers and bark, and a four-chambered stomach helps it digest tough foliage. Infants are born bright orange, and the coat fades to black over several months.
