About Doc’s Zoo

Doc’s Zoo is a small zoo on the property of the Doc's HD dealership at W2709 State Hwy 29 in Bonduel, Wisconsin. Bonduel is a village in Shawano County. The zoo is not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. According to the dealership's website, there is no charge to visit, and donation jars collect money for animal enrichment items.

History

The zoo's page says that many of its animals were surrendered by people who could no longer take care of them.

Exhibits and habitats

The dealership's website lists a mixed collection that includes:

  • Red kangaroos, including a mother and her joey
  • An African crested porcupine
  • A dromedary/Bactrian camel named Zephra
  • American alligators, including babies
  • An alpaca
  • African spur-thighed sulcata tortoises
  • A kunekune pig
  • A mini mule and miniature donkeys
  • A Flemish giant rabbit
  • Goats
  • Reptiles and amphibians, including a White's tree frog, bearded dragons, and an albino king snake
  • Birds, including a peacock, a yellow-headed Amazon parrot, an African grey parrot, and blue and gold macaws

Many of the animals are listed by name on the website.

Planning your visit

The website invites visitors to stop by any time during regular dealership hours, and says animals may sometimes be seen after closing. Dealership hours, which vary by day and include Sunday hours, are listed on the dealership's website.

Visitors are asked not to feed the animals. The website explains that the animals are on special diets and that staff need to know what and how much each one eats each day.

Distances are straight-line. A dash means we haven't confirmed that detail yet, not that the zoo lacks it.

AZAThe Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Accredited members have passed an independent inspection of animal care and welfare, safety, conservation and education, repeated every five years. Many smaller facilities never apply, so “not accredited” isn't a verdict on its own. What accreditation means · How we check this
