About the iranian fat-tailed gecko

The Iranian fat-tailed gecko, also known as the Iranian or Iraqi eyelid gecko, is a nocturnal, ground-dwelling lizard native to Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Syria. It feeds mainly on insects but may also eat smaller vertebrates. A continuous light stripe runs along its back from the head to the base of the tail, bordered on each side by broken black stripes. Like most geckos of its genus, it has a fatter, spotted tail. As in most lizards, the tail can be shed as a defence, a trick known as autotomy.
