About Wild Wings Inc.
Wild Wings Inc. is a nonprofit bird of prey facility at 27 Pond Road, Honeoye Falls, New York, inside Mendon Ponds Park. The organization describes itself as a not-for-profit educational organization that includes a bird of prey facility and the Mendon Ponds Park Nature Center. It cares for permanently injured, non-releasable birds and wildlife and uses them in education programs. Wikipedia describes Mendon Ponds Park as a park of more than 2,500 acres southeast of Rochester, in the towns of Mendon and Pittsford, and notes that Wild Wings is headquartered near the park’s southwestern edge.
Wild Wings states its mission as fostering awareness, enhancing respect, and promoting personal responsibility for the natural world. Its website says the organization believes the key to environmental conservation and preservation is education. The facility is not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. According to its website, it receives no funding from Monroe County and relies on donations from the public and fees from its educational programs.
History
Wild Wings Inc. was established in November 1995 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, according to its website. It was located in Hilton, New York, from November 1995 to January 2006. In the fall of 2004 the organization approached the Monroe County Parks Department about an abandoned site at Mendon Ponds Park, then raised funds and sought a lease for the park land through legislation. Ground was broken in May 2005, and the building, constructed by volunteers with guidance from an architect and professional builders, was completed in January 2006, according to the website.
In 2019 the organization expanded to operate the Mendon Ponds Park Nature Center and Sharon’s Sensory Garden, and the website says community fundraising paid for new animal enclosures and facility improvements.
Exhibits and habitats
The raptor facility is the center of the visit. According to the website, Wild Wings cares for more than 30 permanently injured, non-releasable birds of prey, along with non-releasable songbirds, a bobcat, and two red foxes. Among the raptor residents are eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures, and owls. The animal page names three individual owls: Sage, a short-eared owl; Forest, a great horned owl; and Archer, a barred owl.
Native small mammals, reptiles, and amphibians that cannot be released are kept at the adjacent Nature Center, according to the animal page. The Nature Center and Sharon’s Sensory Garden are part of the Mendon Ponds Park site that Wild Wings operates. Wikipedia separately notes a sensory garden designed for visitors with disabilities in Mendon Ponds Park.
The website states that the facility is handicap accessible.
Conservation and programs
Wild Wings offers on-site programming and tours aimed at people of all ages, with the stated aim of educating visitors about the importance of ecosystems. Its website lists a Book a Program page for arranging programs, and mentions camps, owl prowls, and other special events.
The events page for fall 2026 lists several dated items. These include an online auction running from September 27 to October 4, owl prowls on October 10 and October 16 at 7 p.m., a paint and sip event on October 22 that is listed as sold out, a wreath decorating fundraiser on November 5, a Shopping Is for the Birds sale on November 27 to 29, Santa at Wild Wings on December 5, and a bookfair at a Barnes and Noble store in Pittsford on December 12. The website states that all donations and sales go directly to the animals.
The organization also operates a shop and a donation page, and a wish list of supplies is posted on the site.

The website describes the facility as an inclusive community space with no admission fee, supported by donations and program revenue. As listed on the website, it is open Monday and Tuesday and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and closed Wednesday and Thursday. The bird of prey facility and Sharon’s Sensory Garden are outdoors, and the website says some animals are not placed in their enclosures in severe weather and that the facility may close if necessary.
Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the facility during normal business hours, according to the website. Cameras other than cell phones may not be used in the facility. AZAThe Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Accredited members have passed an independent inspection of animal care and welfare, safety, conservation and education, repeated every five years.
