About the visayan warty pig
The Visayan warty pig is a critically endangered wild pig found only in the Visayan Islands of the central Philippines. It is believed extinct on most of those islands, with documented surviving populations only on Negros and Panay. Boars are named for three pairs of fleshy warts on the face, which biologists speculate may protect against rivals' tusks. The pigs live in groups of four to six, eating roots, tubers and fruit, and also crops. Around 95% of their natural habitat has been cleared for farming, and they readily hybridise with feral domestic pigs. The first wild photographs came from camera traps in 2012.
