About the green turaco
The Guinea turaco, also called the green turaco, is a bird of the forests of West and Central Africa, from Senegal east to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and south to northern Angola. It is about 40 to 43 cm long, with brilliant green and blue plumage, crimson flight feathers, a red bill and an erectile green crest. It is mostly sedentary and strongly territorial, feeding on wild and cultivated fruits and on blossoms. It flies poorly and prefers to climb from branch to branch. Females lay two eggs on a platform nest in a tree.
