About the collared finchbill

The collared finchbill is a songbird in the bulbul family, found in China, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam. It favors forested hills at moderate elevations. It is mainly a fruit eater, taking berries such as those of Hedera nepalensis and Paederia scandens, and it also eats seeds and insects. The birds are typically monogamous, and females build the nest in a tree. Two subspecies are recognized: one in central and southern China and northern Vietnam, and one on Taiwan and Japan's Miyako and Yaeyama Islands.
