About Prehistoric World

Prehistoric World, which the official website calls Prehistoric World Reptile Zoo, is at 16 Lake Street in Perry, New York. The zoo describes itself as more than just a zoo and as an experience for all ages, with exotic reptiles, amphibians, and plant collections from around the world. The indoor tropical environment is kept warm year-round. The zoo is not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Exhibits and habitats

The zoo's website divides a visit into three sites.

Site A is Frog Hollow and Bug Bayou, an area with amphibians and invertebrates.

Site B is the Jungle Room, an interactive tropical environment where guests can view, hold, and interact with reptiles from tropical and forest environments among tropical plants. The website describes it as the highlight of many people's trip.

Site C is Turtle Town, home to rescue turtles and other reptiles, with interactive opportunities, according to the website.

Conservation and programs

The website lists parties, programs, and educational experiences. The zoo also offers a Patreon membership with tiered benefits.

Planning your visit

The website advises visitors to check the calendar on the site for available dates and then use the Tickets and Gift Shop page to buy admission. Ticket details are on the zoo's website. Because the building is kept warm, the site tells guests to dress for tropical weather, for example with a t-shirt under a coat. The website lists nearby attractions in Wyoming County, including Letchworth State Park and the Arcade and Attica Railroad. The phone number listed is 585-356-3312.

Distances are straight-line. A dash means we haven't confirmed that detail yet, not that the zoo lacks it.

AZAThe Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Accredited members have passed an independent inspection of animal care and welfare, safety, conservation and education, repeated every five years. Many smaller facilities never apply, so “not accredited” isn't a verdict on its own. What accreditation means · How we check this
