About Arbuckle Wilderness
Arbuckle Wilderness, also presented on its website as Arbuckle Wilderness Park, is a drive-through safari park at 6132 Kay Starr Trail in Davis, Oklahoma. The park's website describes it as more than 200 acres in the Arbuckle Mountains with hundreds of exotic animals roaming free, representing creatures from over five continents. It is located on Interstate 35 at Exit 51, across from Turner Falls, which the website places about 90 minutes north of Dallas and 60 minutes from Oklahoma City. It is not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Exhibits and habitats
The main attraction is the drive-through safari, in which visitors travel through the animal areas in their own vehicles. The park's rules state that visitors must stay in their cars at all times, that the speed limit is 5 miles per hour or less, and that the park does not accept responsibility for vehicle damage or injuries.
Beyond the safari, the website lists a House of Reptiles Petting Zoo, a walk-through zoological area, animal feeding opportunities, hay bus rides in spring and summer, a souvenir shop and the Sweet Shop Cafe. An R.V. park is also listed. The only species named on the website is the lemur, which appears in a gallery of new arrivals.
Programs
The park hosts birthday parties and business events. Bus tours are listed for groups of 20 or more, with group rates for groups of 25 or more. The website lists an event called Funfest 2026.
Regulatory history
In June 2026 the U.S. Department of Agriculture suspended the park's license under the Animal Welfare Act and ordered it to close for 21 days, according to a KOCO report published June 29, 2026. KOCO reported that the USDA letter, sent June 25, cited failures to conduct daily observation of animals and assess their health, to keep facilities structurally sound and maintained, to protect animals from climate conditions and from insects and parasites, and to meet dietary considerations for species and individual animals. The report stated that the park could appeal within the 21-day period.
Planning your visit
As listed on the park's website, the drive-through safari is open every day, weather permitting, for 362 days a year, and is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. The website states that the rides are temporarily under construction and that separate prices apply when the walk-through area is open. Admission details are on the park's website. The park's phone numbers are (580) 369-3383 and 1-800-PET-PARK.

AZAThe Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Accredited members have passed an independent inspection of animal care and welfare, safety, conservation and education, repeated every five years. Many smaller facilities never apply, so “not accredited” isn't a verdict on its own. What accreditation means · How we check this
