Zoos in Oklahoma

Oklahoma's zoos include two large city institutions and several roadside and sanctuary-style stops. Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden, which opened in 1902, covers 130 acres in the city's Adventure District and houses more than 2,000 animals of over 500 species. Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum opened in 1927, spans 84 acres inside Mohawk Park, and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Southern Oklahoma offers Arbuckle Wilderness, a drive-through safari park of more than 200 acres in Davis, right off Interstate 35, and Endangered Ark Foundation near Hugo, a nonprofit established in 1993 to care for Asian elephants. Hochatown Rescue Center and Petting Zoo in Broken Bow and Bradt's Menagerie in Alva are smaller, hands-on options.
