Washington's zoos cluster around Puget Sound, with several wildlife parks and sanctuaries farther afield. Northwest Trek near Eatonville, also AZA-accredited, covers 723 acres of native Pacific Northwest wildlife, including a 435-acre Free-Roaming Area for hoofed animals. Cougar Mountain Zoo, an 11-acre nonprofit in Issaquah, was founded in 1972 and is not AZA-accredited. East of the Cascades, Leavenworth Reindeer Farm near the Bavarian-themed village of Leavenworth is open by advance reservation, and Cat Tales Zoological Park north of Spokane specializes in big cats.
