About Pymatuning Deer Park

Pymatuning Deer Park is a family-owned and operated animal park at 804 East Jamestown Road in Jamestown, Pennsylvania. The park's website places it at the southern end of Pymatuning Lake and describes animals and birds from around the world in a wooded setting under a canopy of trees. Visitors walk through the grounds and see both domestic and exotic animals. The park is not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

History

According to the park's website, Pymatuning Deer Park was established in 1953. The website says the park has been passed on from generation to generation for over 70 years.

Exhibits and habitats

The Kiddie Zoo is a section where visitors can interact with baby animals and farm animals. The website says state law prohibits bringing food from outside the park to feed the animals. The park also has pony rides along a wilderness trail, limited to riders under 80 pounds, and a train ride called the Deer Park Express. Picnic facilities are available for families and groups, and the Deer Park Gift Shop sells souvenirs and gifts.

Planning your visit

As listed on the park's website, the season opened on the weekend of May 9 and 10, and from late August the park is open Saturdays and Sundays only until the end of September, plus Labor Day. Admission, ride tickets, and season passes are described on the park's website. The phone number listed is 724-932-3200.

AZAThe Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Accredited members have passed an independent inspection of animal care and welfare, safety, conservation and education, repeated every five years.
