Zoos in Nebraska

Nebraska has three listed zoos, spread across the state from east to far west. Lincoln Children's Zoo in Lincoln is the AZA-accredited one, a 10-acre nonprofit that opened in 1965 and houses more than 400 animals, including a Sumatran tiger, cheetahs and penguins, with giraffes that visitors can feed. Riverside Discovery Center sits in Riverside Park in Scottsbluff along the North Platte River and is the only zoo in western Nebraska; it is no longer AZA accredited, but its park setting includes lakes, a riverside trail and garden areas. Horn T Zoo in Monroe is not AZA accredited. Between them, the three give eastern and western Nebraska very different kinds of zoo visits.
