Zoos in Utah

Utah has two zoos on this list, both in the northern part of the state. Utah's Hogle Zoo sits on 42 acres of hillside terrain at the mouth of Salt Lake City's Emigration Canyon, where it moved in 1931 from its original site in Liberty Park. It has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1979 and holds more than 800 animals representing 139 species. Farther north, Zootah in Logan is a seven-acre private nonprofit beside the Cache County Fairgrounds, with over 60 species. It began in 1970 as Willow Park Zoo and is not AZA-accredited. The two differ widely in scale, with Hogle holding far more animals and species than Zootah.
