Zoos in South Carolina

South Carolina's animal attractions range from a state capital zoo to small family-run farms and a historic park. Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia is an AZA-accredited, 170-acre zoo, aquarium and botanical garden on the Saluda River, and Greenville Zoo, a 14-acre AZA-accredited zoo, opened in 1960. On the coast, Brookgreen Gardens near Murrells Inlet houses the AZA-accredited Lowcountry Zoo among its sculpture gardens, and Charles Towne Landing in Charleston keeps its Animal Forest within a 664-acre historic site. Bee City Zoo & Honey Bee Farm in Cottageville is a hands-on, family-owned zoo and working honeybee farm.
