About Jungle Adventures

Jungle Adventures - A Real Florida Animal Park is an animal park at 26205 East Colonial Drive in Christmas, Florida. The park's website describes it as the natural habitat jungle home of a rare Florida panther, small exotic cats, various deer, tropical birds, reptiles, mammals, and other animals, and invites visitors to see, hear, smell, and feel old, real Florida. The website describes the organization as a nonprofit.

A February 2025 Spectrum Bay News 9 segment in its Florida on a Tankful series placed the park off State Road 50 and described it as an animal park that has served customers in one way or another for 50 years. The same report named Michale Houston King as director and Ryan Brown as a curator who has guided tours for 28 years.

The park is not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Exhibits and habitats

The entrance is marked by a large cement alligator named Swampy. The Bay News 9 report described it as a roughly 200-foot cement alligator, and the Wikipedia article on Christmas, Florida, says the community is home to the world's largest alligator-shaped building, at just over 200 feet, captioning its photograph as Swampy at Jungle Adventures.

The park's website describes its Gator Jamboree feeding with alligators of 8 to 15 feet in length, along with a rare Florida panther, exotic cats, deer, tropical birds, and reptiles. Bay News 9 reported that the park holds roughly 200 alligators, including a 15-foot, 1,000-pound alligator named Goliath that the report described as 50 years old. The report also mentioned a panther, birds including an emu, tarantulas, skunks, and baby alligators, and said Goliath appeared in the film Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher's Revenge, which was filmed at the park.

Visitors move through boardwalks that pass natural habitats, according to Bay News 9, and the report said guests can go inside for animal encounters with tarantulas, skunks, and a baby alligator.

Conservation and programs

The park's website lists four signature experiences:

  • A hands-on wildlife experience with baby alligators and other animals.
  • A Native American and Old Florida settler village, presented as an enhanced adventure.
  • The Gator Jamboree feeding, in which guides hand-feed alligators.
  • Jungle Swamp Queen river boat cruises on the Green Gator River, which the website says pass alligators, flocks of birds, and a replica of the Spanish Fort Mees.

Bay News 9 described the boats as electric-powered. The website notes that the swamp cruise does not operate during inclement weather.

The park also runs a mobile zoo outreach program, which its website says has served Central Florida for over four decades. According to the website, it delivers presentations of 35 to 40 minutes covering three to four animals, ranging from local favorites to exotic species, across Central Florida. The presenters are described as former gator trappers and wranglers, and the website says that, as a nonprofit, its hands-on programs aim to educate and build environmental awareness.

AZAThe Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Accredited members have passed an independent inspection of animal care and welfare, safety, conservation and education, repeated every five years.
