Zoos in Arkansas

Arkansas has a small zoo scene that mixes one large city zoo with roadside and farm-style attractions. Little Rock Zoo, on 33 acres and dating its founding to 1926, is AZA-accredited, with over 400 animals and several 1930s buildings from Works Progress Administration contracts. In Hot Springs, the Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo has been owned by the Bridges family since 1947, keeps about 200 alligators, and is not AZA accredited. Cockrill's Country Critters Petting Zoo in Austin, outside Little Rock, is a hands-on farm that also runs a mobile petting zoo for events. Snake World in Berryville covers the northwest corner of the state.
