Zoos in New Hampshire
New Hampshire has only a few animal attractions, and each is a different kind of place. Squam Lakes Natural Science Center in Holderness, in the Lakes Region, is a nonprofit environmental education center and zoo whose campus covers more than 200 acres of fields, forests, streams, and ponds on Squam Lake. In Candia, Charmingfare Farm is a working farm that also runs a zoo with farm animals, North American wildlife including bears and wolves, and reptiles, plus horse-drawn wagon, carriage, and sleigh rides. Santa's Village in Jefferson, open since 1953, is a Christmas-themed family park rather than a conventional zoo, and its live-animal component is limited to a reindeer barn. The three are in different parts of the state.
